Let's try this again....

Picture
This is the bowl I used modge podge to create.

It didn't go well - very pliable so I put white glue over it and decided to wait awhile. It's still pliable and sagging so I came up with a solution.

I boiled the S**T out of it, then separated the glue from the glass. Now I'm ready to remake it - with only white glue this time. I have learned that modge podge is not the product for this work in the humid climate I live in.

Blue tile wall art....

Picture

Finally found a use for all these similar type of tiles that I keep picking up on the beach. They all have a pattern on them that look like water drops. I was getting quite a collection of them and I had yet to find a use the them. Problem solved and a nice piece of art created.

Blue tile heart wall art. Made to fit an 8x10 shadow box frame.

Oops - oh well another form for my trees....

Picture

Oops!

This glass came apart as I was washing it this morning. After a second or two I realized the bottom would make a great base for a small sea glass tree and the top is a great form for creating larger, hollow trees. I'll sand the sharp edges and keep these on hand for future use.

Green beach tile artwork....

Anyone looking for a green piece of heart artwork?

Using up some of the bigger green pieces of tile I've picked up on my beach walks.

Made for an 8x10 shadow box frame.

Shark Bite cocktail....

Picture

Well this piece really came together in an odd way.

My original thought was to have a piece of glass - like the bottom of a bottle - that I could use to make an aquarium - so fish were definitely in my mind from the beginning.

Then I found this big piece of glass that I thought would be a perfect cocktail glass which just completely distracted me from my original plan. Then I got to wondering if there was a cocktail with a fish name.

A quick search found me a Shark Bite Cocktail so I thought it would be really fun to put the recipe as part of my piece of art.

I went looking online because I definitely needed something to reference for my shark drawing because you know there's never been a reason for me to draw a shark before - another first.

Sea glass couple enjoying the view....

Picture

Continuing to use some of the bigger pieces of sea glass and tiles that I have picked up on my beach walks.

This time it's a couple enjoying the evening sunset. Anyone recognize the view? It's a rough rendition of what our bay looks like.

This is the piece that I was thinking to have an acrylic painted background but I opted to use my pencil crayons instead to give a lighter background.

Made to fit an 8x10 shadow box frame.

Trying my hand at acrylic painting....

Picture
Picture
Here I go again! I'm trying to paint with acrylic which I've never done before.

I looked online for a couple of ideas for sunsets and I'm just trying it out to see. I have a piece of sea glass art that I want to do with a couple sitting on a bench with a palm tree overlooking a sunset. That's why I'm trying to figure out how to paint an acrylic sunset so this is a practice piece.

Sea glass bowls....

Picture

I have a nice little selection of sea glass bowls to display at the fall market. This will be the first time I am presenting them with my display so I'm interested to see how they will be received.

These are great little trinket bowls - use them to hold your rings; put them in your guest bathroom with personal sized toiletries in them; have it by your entrance door to keep your keys in; by the entrance door with coins to tip the delivery person. Lots of ways to use them.

Sea glass wall art....

Picture

Working on a piece of sea glass wall art. I make my pieces to fit an 8 x 10 shadow box frame.

I've often been asked why I don't frame my pieces and I have a few reasons for that.

The most important reason, in my opinion, is that the frame has to suit the persons decor. If it doesn't they probably won't buy the piece.

Another reason is that where I live there is nowhere close to me where I can go and personally select frames - I live in a little fishing village in Mexico. So I would have to order them online through Amazon.

The third reason is that by offering my work unframed it keeps my costs down. It enables the person taking the art to find the perfect frame to suit their decor and the piece of art at the same time.

Who knew there was an artist lurking within? Certainly not me.

It started with my Mom giving me some paints that she wasn’t using but I never did anything with them because “I wasn’t artistic” - according to myself. We really need to learn to have a kinder inner voice because I have discovered that apparently I am artistic.

In early 2018 I was introduced to an artist on Instagram from Australia who makes the most beautiful art. I looked at it and was truly inspired. I thought how hard can it be to put dots on some rocks. I had never felt that I was artistic at all but this woman has changed me forever! So I began and since that time I have started following even more rock artists to inspire me.

In late 2019 my sister in law introduced me to another Instagram person who creates coloring books. Drawing is another thing I said I could never do but thanks to the inspiration I am receiving from this woman and through various social media sources I have discovered that I actually can draw.

So the lesson is....you never really know what you are capable of until you actually try it! Never say never, I can’t etc. to yourself. Obviously I have to change my words and thoughts from - "I'm not artistic" and "I can't draw" to.....
"Cool something new! Let's give it a try and see where it goes!" And now when people ask me what I do I say - I am an Artist!

I look forward to expanding my creativity. Thank you for your interest and support.
