10/14/2024 0 Comments A gift of art.... Just completed this mobile that's going to be a surprise gift for a friend. They had this very open space on the wall at their new business so I figured I would fill it in for them. I think they wondered what I was doing when I was measuring out the wall space by putting my hands up next to each other from one side of the space to the other. That's the way I measure - so then I know that the space is 4 hands wide so I can make the mobile the appropriate size. #myrockpaperart #beachmobile #recycledbeachfinds #beachtreasures #beachfindmobiles

Planning out a couple of more mobiles. I don't what takes longer - picking all the pieces to use; planning the design or actually constructing the mobile. I decided to do something different with this mobile. I really liked this big piece of wood in the center of this piece but doing everything horizontal just gets a little old. I felt like this piece needed to be in a vertical position. This is what I was inspired to create. Other than the brown twine that I sometimes use, everything else is recycled from things I pick up on the beach. I had a woman ask me to create a mobile for a wall in her house so it had to be fairly big for the section that she wanted. I'm laying out my idea. Once I tie it, it'll be longer than it appears in the picture but at least I'm getting my ideas out. It's got driftwood, seashells, seed pods and even some turtle scales. I need to change up a couple of pieces of driftwood and drill a few holes and then I'll be ready to tie it with a dark brown twine.

I love it when I get in the zone and everything comes together so quick and easy. Picking my pieces was simple and tying all my knots in the fishing line was extremely easy today- not always the case.

It's hard to tell in this picture but this big shell has some lovely purple colors in it. Every so often, if I'm really lucky, I come across a shell with some very distinctive colors in them.
