Working on another stain....

Picture

Well that sucks! When I pulled my shirt out of the wash there was this bleach mark all over it from the detergent I guess?

My solution to these sorts of problems is to paint it.

I'm going to try a tie-dye type effect and see how it turns out.

Worst case scenario it's garbage either way.

LOL People who know me know that I'm a bit of a crazy girl and I "MacGyver" things a lot to figure out a way to get stuff done.

This is the shirt that I have tie dye painted.

I left it in a bucket overnight and now I want to sort of drip dry it a bit before I untie it but I don't want to get the paint drips everywhere so I decide to hang it from the palm tree over the garden and then the drips can go in there.

After it drips for a while I will unravel it and put it on a hanger and hang it up there to continue to dry where any dripping won't mark any important surfaces.

My plan to cover the bleach mark definitely worked although the overall pattern is a little lacking in my opinion.

I think I will let this dry then lay it out and pour a little more paint on it. My plan is to make the yellow "pop" more and to add a bit more color on the bottom part.

Continuing to work to make this piece just right. The story began with a bleach mark on my top so I decided to tie dye paint it. The left image is how it looked when I unraveled it. Not too thrilled with the results so I took it down into the garden, laid it out on the ground and proceeded to pour more paint over it. While it was wet I twisted it up, wrung out the excess moisture then put it on a hanger and hung it from the palm tree to finish drying.

Much happier with the results now (right side).

So from a wrecked shirt to a fun, new style.

Who knew there was an artist lurking within? Certainly not me.

It started with my Mom giving me some paints that she wasn’t using but I never did anything with them because “I wasn’t artistic” - according to myself. We really need to learn to have a kinder inner voice because I have discovered that apparently I am artistic.

In early 2018 I was introduced to an artist on Instagram from Australia who makes the most beautiful art. I looked at it and was truly inspired. I thought how hard can it be to put dots on some rocks. I had never felt that I was artistic at all but this woman has changed me forever! So I began and since that time I have started following even more rock artists to inspire me.

In late 2019 my sister in law introduced me to another Instagram person who creates coloring books. Drawing is another thing I said I could never do but thanks to the inspiration I am receiving from this woman and through various social media sources I have discovered that I actually can draw.

So the lesson is....you never really know what you are capable of until you actually try it! Never say never, I can’t etc. to yourself. Obviously I have to change my words and thoughts from - "I'm not artistic" and "I can't draw" to.....
"Cool something new! Let's give it a try and see where it goes!" And now when people ask me what I do I say - I am an Artist!

I look forward to expanding my creativity. Thank you for your interest and support.
